West Bengal State Student Youth Science Fair 2015: A Celebration of Young Scientific Talent

In October 2015, the West Bengal Department of Youth Services organized the State Student Youth Science Fair and Research Competition, held from October 3 to October 10, 2015, at both district and state levels. This prestigious event aimed to ignite curiosity, foster innovation, and celebrate the scientific spirit among the youth of the state.

I had the honor of winning the West Bengal State Student Youth Science Fair and Research Competition 2015, excelling at both the district and state levels. This recognition was a significant milestone in my early scientific journey and fueled my passion for research and innovation.

🧪 Event Overview

The fair was designed as a two-tier competitive program for students from secondary schools, higher secondary schools, and colleges across West Bengal. Participants presented:

• Scientific Models

• Innovative Projects

• Mini Research Reports

These exhibits were based on pre-decided themes, encouraging students to explore and address contemporary scientific challenges.

📍 District-Level Competitions

The district-level competitions served as the preliminary stage, where students showcased their projects at local venues. These events identified and nurtured budding scientific talents before advancing to the state level.

The state-level exhibition, held in Kolkata, featured an extensive display of science models and projects, attracting students, educators, and the general public. The event aimed to:

• Department of Youth Services, Government of West Bengal

• Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM)

• Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search

• National Council of Science Museums (NCSM)

These organizations contributed to mentorship, guidance, and logistical support.

The main goals of the West Bengal State Student Youth Science Fair were to:

Winning this competition not only recognized my project and efforts but also provided invaluable exposure, experience, and motivation to continue pursuing scientific research and innovation.

GSMP Engineering College Hosts 2K18 Tech-Fest at NS College, Inaugurated by Sri Purnendu Basu

The Electronics Department of GSMP Engineering College organized its 2K18 Tech-Fest on 20 March 2018 at NS College. The event brought together students, faculty and guests for a day of innovation and hands-on learning.

Sri Purnendu Basu, Honorable Minister in charge of the Department of Technical Education, Training and Skill Development, Government of West Bengal, inaugurated the program. His address encouraged students to pursue practical knowledge, creativity and skill development.

Among the active participants was Syed Mosharaf Hossain, who presented and displayed his project during the exhibition. His participation added to the diversity of ideas showcased at the event, and his project drew appreciation from teachers and visitors for its effort and presentation.

The tech-fest included project displays, model demonstrations, robotics activities, circuit design tasks and interactive technical sessions. Students from different semesters engaged enthusiastically, turning the venue into a lively space for learning and exploration.

The combined effort of GSMP Engineering College and NS College faculty ensured smooth coordination throughout the event. Their guidance helped students gain confidence and understand the practical aspects of engineering.

The 2K18 Tech-Fest ended with recognition of outstanding projects and contributors. The event left a positive impact on participants and highlighted the importance of innovation-focused education.
